Air Jordan 5 JSP “Laney”

Michael Jordan’s Emsley A. Laney High School, where he famously didn’t make the Varsity team as a sophomore, inspired the famed colorway of the 2000 Air Jordan 5 Retro, and this time around that inspiration takes the high school’s colors and flips them. An aptly-named varsity royal blue upper sits atop a speckled grey midsole with hits of yellow on the heel 23 logo, the varsity-inspired Jumpman, and the liner of the sneaker. As a final nod to the high school, the footbeds also feature his number in varsity styling. Available in Men and Grade School sizing.

Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG “A Star Is Born” – Black/Varsity Red-Sail – $160

Following the “Rookie of the Year” edition of the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG another early career inspiration hits this “Sports Illustrated” edition of the Jordan 1. The first time Jordan appeared on the cover of the magazine was in the December 10th, 1984 edition, with the headline “A Star is Born,” which is printed in bold letters inside the collar flaps. This model takes the black, white, and red tumbled leather upper from Jordan’s Bulls uniform, but also mixes in the side panels from the Milwaukee Bucks’ jerseys with tonal green, black, and white stripes on this model’s woven Swoosh. Light blue also appears on the footbed, the color of the Sports Illustrated lettering on that issue.
